Bio-Inspired Mechano-Sensor Based on the Deformation of Slit Wake

Internal mechano-sensors, as an indispensable part of the proprioceptive system intelligent equipment, have attracted enormous research interest because their extremely crucial role in monitoring machining processes, real-time diagnosis equipment faults, adaptive motor control and so on. The mechano-sensory structure with signal-transduction function is important factor determining sensing performance a mechano-sensor. However, contrary to wide application cantilever beam sensory external mechano-sensors order guarantee exteroceptive ability, there still lack effective widely used significantly improve internal mechano-sensors. Here, inspired by scorpion using specialized slit mechano-sensilla, ingeniously design engineered In deformability wake, hollowed-out around tail biological mechano-sensilla researched. Meanwhile, mimic easily deformed flexible cuticular membrane covering slit, ultrathin, flexible, crack-based strain sensor element cover controllable wake. Based on coupling deformation well sensor, slit-based mechano-sensor shows excellent various mechanical signals such displacement vibration signals.
